"At first we tried a lower fee tutor --
I would absolutely recommend Tralee.
After I establish rapport with your child, we talk about his or her relationship to math. By taking a math biography, we learn about your child's historical experience with math and math anxiety. I do a quick assessment of learning style with suggestions how to make any necessary adaptations for math class. Last, we all discuss the results of the Goals Questionnaire which you both complete before your appointment. Once we all agree on common goals, we take all this information together to create a personalized learning plan.
For the last part of the session, your child and I work on current math material such as homework, an old test, a preview of new material, and (if assigned) review the results of any pre-assessment you may have received ahead of time.
My fee take into consideration the following qualifications:
You receive premier tutoring services with Great Math Tutoring. I have decades of education experience. I am credentialed in math and school counseling, and I trained as a psychotherapist. So, as you might expect, my fees are more than that of new teachers or college students, yet less than the large, tutoring companies.
You are guaranteed to see me, rather than an associate. I teach study skills in every single session, including ways to study math and take tests without anxiety. I let you know if I suspect a learning difference that you can discuss with the school. At the end of each session, I give the student a few homework problems. I will email the teacher for more information, with your permission. I can bridge communication gaps between parent and student. I evaluate and diagnose your child's errors on tests, and then use that information to customize study methods in order to build strong understanding and confidence.
Both the initial consultation fee and the regular weekly appointments are
$85 per session.
Associate Tutors are available for a lower fee, and work with elementary school students who need homework help and drill, and who do not have learning disabilities. These adults are personally recruited, trained, and supervised by me. I will check in with you to understand how the session went. If you are not satisfied, I will find you another tutor, or you may request a refund.
STUDY HALL APPOINTMENTS
Students who need regular supervision and less individual attention may enroll in Study Hall appointments. The student receives half a session of direct instruction, and half a session independent study. The fee is $50.

digit VIRTUAL TUTORING
Virtual tutoring solves schedule and transportation problems. We use the technology, Lumin, to join us together. We share a whiteboard and video feed with the option to save the lesson's notes. Students send a picture in advance of the day's worksheet, book assignment, chapter review, or graded test (via e-mail).
